v 9.5.0 (9.5.0.33.2024-03-02-08-00)
- New and completely revamped US NOAA ENC chart management.
- Radically simplified compared to our old free chart manager (from three screens and 20 clicks to one screen and one click).
- Takes advantage of our NavStation Chart Account automatics.
- The entire US NOAA Chart set is now divided into the 9 US Coast Guard Districts on a live interactive map. Just click a region to turn it on and MacENCx64 downloads and installs automatically. We auto update as well so you always have the latest. See MacENC Help -> NavStation Chart Account for details.
- As always, the US NOAA Chart service is FREE.
Improvements:
FIXED: MacENCx64 Crashes changing Low Light View on macOS Sonoma 14.3.1.
- Better clean up of old charts when automatic updates happen.
Deprecations:
- SailTimer sails into the sunset. We’ve removed the venerable SailTimer feature.
- While useful for calculating upwind tacks on a single leg (one waypoint to another) it was limited to only that and did not take into account any chart data. Which means it might recommend you tack into land. Land Ho! Oops.
- We’re rewriting nearly the whole of MacENC and have ideas for a much better feature in the near future.

Various Bug Fixes
Last of the 32bit version released. 2015 GPSNavX
v 8.50
View menu
The “Route Up” option will use the bearing of the active waypoint, instead of the GPS “Course Over Ground” for chart orientation, if a waypoint is active.
Improvements
If the vessel’s AIS transponder provides heading, it can be used to orient the vessel icon. Select “Heading is from”: “Instruments” in MacENC Preferences for “Boat icon”.
In MacENC Preferences, “Request a GRIB file” section, you can check the “Manual” box to manually send the GRIB file request email. When the box is unchecked, the sending is automatic.
The GPS window can be used to display the vessel’s own AIS information. Select “Type”: “IP Only” in the “Parameters” drawer.
In the View menu, if, in addition to the “Centered” option, the “Position> Adapted to the road” option is checked, MacENC centers the map on the active road by adapting the scale proportionally.
In the menu View> Objects “Larger Text” increases the size of text and navaids for Navionics charts.
In the menu View> Objects “Light sectors” activates the display of the colors of the light sectors (Navionics charts).
Improved display of GRIB forecasts containing ocean currents or tidal currents (eg TideTech).

The area covered is 20 ° S to 70 ° N, North Atlantic Ocean from North America to the coasts of Africa / Europe.
NMEA
The NMEA $ GPRTE sentence containing the active route data is transmitted by the TCP / IP servers (eg to iNavX).
Support for AIS Class B NMEA 2000 receivers.
AIS Class B targets have their position point displayed in magenta.
The determination of IP addresses in the TCP / IP window is established more efficiently.
Various
The Latitude / Longitude of the position clicked on the map is added in the “Objects” tab of the “Navigation” window.
v 8.20
Various
When “Card Limits” is enabled in the View menu, the limits are also displayed in the “Preview” window.
“Shortest approach distance” in “Information” of the “AIS / RADAR” window indicates in real time the distance, the remaining time and the bearing of the target.
The targets selected in the “AIS / RADAR” window will remain so even if the list of targets changes.
More NMEA2000 PGN data is processed.

The [Command] + [F] keyboard shortcut now opens the Map Manager.
Forecasts
The “Days” and “Interval” submenus of the Request a GRIB file menu allow you to choose the step and the time of the weather forecast.
