A vision long in the making
When we first acquired MacENC 32bit, the plan was to offer Navionics charts. Garmin shut those doors to all chart planning software providers, vertically integrating, and selling directly and via through plotter manufacturers and marine retail.
That left us with only the free NOAA chart download feature and our ability to support 3rd party suppliers of ENC or RNC charts. While usable, the manual steps to purchase, download, unzip, file move, and install in MacENCx64 was tedious and not user friendly.
We began discussions with ChartWorld back then on how we could create a better way. It’s taken two years of work to get all the puzzle pieces together:
- Expansion of cost competitive ChartWorld branded charts to more locations around the world (and growing).
- C-MAP Professional + catalog for truly world wide coverage.
- NavStation web-based chart store construction.
- NavStation cloud-based back-end servers and automation connecting the app to the chart provider and securely hosting your content.
- And finally, MacENCx64 app automations to seamlessly fetch, install, and most importantly, keep updated each of your active devices.

It’s been quite a slog getting this done, we’ve hardly come up for air! But now we’re super excited to finally reach our goal and get this out to you all.
With this one done and dusted, we now can focus on the backlog of feature enhancements impatiently waiting in the wings. So much more to come.
